Zirconia beads are often used in high-energy grinding mills, such as stirred media mills and planetary ball mills, where they facilitate the breakdown of particles to finer sizes through impact and attrition forces.
Zirconia beads, also known as zirconium dioxide (ZrO2) beads or zirconia grinding media, are small spherical particles made of zirconium dioxide, a tough, durable, and chemically inert ceramic material.
Since it is found in large quantities in the Earth's crust, zirconium is not a rare element. Minerals like zircon, baddeleyite, and others contain this chemical element. However, Zirconium can be difficult to refine and process, making it more expensive than other metals.
Key properties
Good roundness, smooth surface, high density and hardness, it’s perfect ultra-fine grinding media. High stability, acid and alkali-resistance. High hardness and toughness, shockproof, hard to break. Low abrasion wear (ppm grade), low harm to the equipment.
Applications
Especially suitable for vertical stirred mill, horizontal rolling ball mill, vibrating mill and all kinds of high-speed wire rod pin sand mill, etc., for all kinds of requests and cross contamination of slurry and powder, wet and dry ultrafine dispersing and grinding.
The application fields are as follows:
1- Coating, paints, printing and inkjet inks
2- Pigments and dyes
3- Pharmaceuticals
4- Food
5- Electronic materials and components e.g. CMP slurry, ceramic capacitors, lithium iron phosphate battery
6- Chemicals including Agrochemicals e.g. fungicides, insecticides
7- Minerals e.g. TiO2 GCC and Zircon
8- Bio-tech (DNA & RNA isolation)
The second advanced material is alumina. These beads are also distinguished by their high degree of adaptability to challenging environments and their exceptional strength characteristics. These beads are highly rated in the watchmaking, medical and automobile sectors.
Key properties
Exceptional hardness, strong resistance to friction and wear, high elastic modulus, high chemical, thermal and mechanical resistance, strong electrical insulating properties, low porosity.
